And from his calm, measured demeanour in the opening press conference, to his relaxed attitude on the training ground, that seems to be ringing true.
He was pictured on Monday walking around with a cone on his head as Chelsea trained at the International School of Bangkok, in Thailand.

Happy days: Mourinho laughs with right-hand man Rui Faria by the swimming pool
The Portuguese coach was shielding himself from the blazing sun, while the players hit the pool to keep cool.
And with Thai temperatures soaring, it seemed the inflatable ice bath on the poolside was a welcome relief too, with John Terry, Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill among those taking the plunge.
Branislav Ivanovic, meanwhile, was more interested on toning his physique, swimming backstroke lengths up and down the pool.
Romelu Lukaku, who impressed on loan at West Bromwich Albion last season, wasted no time in reintroducing himself to his teammates by splashing an unsuspecting Eden Hazard.

Meanwhile, Thorgan Hazard will return to Zulte Waragem for another year's loan.
Eden younger brother impressed at the Belgian side last season and helped fire them to a second-place finish.
Lukaku, however, will not be leaving the club on loan this summer. The Belgian told Sky Sports News that he had discussed the upcoming campaign with Mourinho.
'Yeah we spoke and I want to keep it private because when you have confidential talks with the manager, it has to stay between you and him. We had a good talk and now it's up to me.'
Quick dip: Nathaniel Chalobah looked delighted to be back in the Chelsea fold
Breather: Romelu Lukaku and Ryan Bertrand take time out from the intense pre-season training
'You never know in football but my mind is in Chelsea now and I have come back to do well in pre-season and if I do a good pre-season, I think I will have a place in the squad and hopefully in the starting 11.
'Last year I had a great season at West Brom and I think have the qualities to do it here, but it is up to me. If I don't do well here, then loan again.'

Young guns: Kevin de Bruyne and Nathaniel Chalobah relax in the pool after training in the heat
Lukaku said: ‘It was my first time doing anything like that and it was good, I had a lot of fun and I think the kids had fun as well. ‘It is something that you want to do and for me as a kid, I never had the opportunity to do things like that – I was always at school or helping my mum out.
‘The kids’ days are made when they see their idols coming from England and giving them training and little bits of advice, and when they apply it they see a big difference and those kids are very happy.
‘The facility was very impressive and I was speaking with Kevin [De Bruyne] about it and in Belgium we should have a pitch like it to play inside with our mates, because we have the same thing but it is smaller - so the facilities are great and I think the kids can develop a lot of technical qualities on those pitches because the surface is perfect, they have good coaches, good balls and equipment to train with.’
